"Police called Brownbread Horse Rescue at about 3am in the night asking us to pick up an abandoned horse in Battle. On arrival in Battle Tony and Dinty loaded the 16 hand horse easily and returned to the Centre.
The horse was given a feed and warm straw bed for the rest of the night.
At 6 am the owner of the horse woke up our rescuers with a phone call (even though the police had already told her that we had provided it a home for the night!)
She told Tony that she had spent three hours trying to load the horse but had given up and tied it to the side of the horse box and gone off. Of course the horse broke loose and was found by the Fire brigade who happened to be coming back from a callout; they had tied it to a lamp post and told the police.
The owner came about 8 o'clock in the morning to retrieve the horse. This callout emergency service had no charge by the charity. Unlike, say a plumber who would have charged a few hundred for such a night emergency callout.
Please help Support this & similar benevolent emergency callouts, by making a donation. Preferably a diesel vehicle to pull the horse ambulance; the current vehicle is not up to the loads it is asked to pull.
